Richard Drexler, b. 1956

 

Contemporary bassist, pianist, composer, and arranger, Richard Drexler has called central Florida home since 1985. A faculty member of the UCF Jazz Department, he also maintains a private teaching studio. He’s backed such vocalists as Mose Allison, Diahann Caroll, Bob Dorough and Mel Torme. Drexler has recorded with Alex Acuna, Nat Adderly, Gato Barbieri. Hank Jones. and Bob Mintzer among a host of others. He released his first album in 1978, FLAMING SPIRIT. “Senor Juan Brahms” on a later CD release, SONGOSAURUS, has been praised for the inventive combining of jazz and classical elements.
