Monty Budwig, 1926 – 1992

Budwig was one of the unsung heroes of West Coast jazz.  An in-demand sideman, the list of his recording associates is extensive and vast.  He toured with Vince Guaraldi for several years and can be heard on that pianist’s CHARLIE BROWN'S CHRISTMAS ALBUM.  His only recording as a leader was DIG on the Concord label (1978).   A trio album for Verve with Shelly Manne and Bill Evans, EMPATHY, presents the bassist in good form with these stellar band mates.
