Gerry Mulligan, 1927 - 1996
Arguably the greatest baritone saxophone player in jazz and certainly the most well known, a list of Mulligan’s colleagues is as close to a definitive Who’s Who in Jazz as one could find. His work with Miles Davis on BIRTH OF THE COOL, with Chet Baker in their ground breaking piano-less quartets, and frequent collaborations with the Dave Brubeck Quartet only skim the surface of a long and fruitful career. NIGHT LIGHTS on the Phillips label is a true gem in the vast treasure chest of his recorded legacy.
